It is reported that Sonam Raghuvanshi killed her husband Raja Raghuvanshi in collaboration with her alleged lover Raj Kushwah. Raj worked as an employee in Sonam’s father’s factory. Raj Kushwah is 5 years younger than Sonam. It is alleged that Raj Kushwah hired three contract killers who killed Raja Raghuvanshi.

Raja Raghuvanshi and Sonam Raghuvanshi, who had gone to Meghalaya for their honeymoon, were first reported missing. Then a few days later, Raja Raghuvanshi’s body was found. In fact, the police have arrested Sonam, Raj Kushwaha and three contract killers Akash Rajput, Anand Kurmi and Vishal Chauhan in this case. The mystery of Raja Raghuvanshi’s murder has been solved by a bloody weapon and the revelations of a guide. Meghalaya Police have been helped in solving this case by the revelations of a blood-stained nai daw, meaning small axe. The guide had told that he had seen three other people along with Raja and his wife Sonam Raghuvanshi. The guide had claimed that the three people seen with Sonam Raja were all talking in Hindi.
Raja was fatally attacked from behind!
According to sources, the planning of this incident was turned into a bloody reality on 23 May. On 23 May afternoon, as per Raj Kushwaha’s planning, Akash, Vishal and Anand talked to Raja Raghuvanshi in Meghalaya on some pretext and then, getting the opportunity, attacked Raja Raghuvanshi from behind. Raja was attacked with a new daav, a type of small axe. After the attack, the Raja was thrown into a deep ditch near a waterfall in an unconscious state. It is reported that to ensure that no one suspects Sonam Raghuvanshi in this case, Sonam Raghuvanshi had talked to her mother-in-law on the phone just before the incident. After the incident, all the accused and Sonam left the spot.
Clues found from CCTV and phone conversations
Based on the statement of the tourist guide, Meghalaya Police started solving the first mystery of Raja Raghuvanshi’s murder. Police have obtained important clues from the weapon used in the murder as well as the CCTV footage of the hotel where Raja Raghuvanshi and Sonam Raghuvanshi were staying. In a CCTV footage, Sonam is seen with Raja. And she is repeatedly going away from Raja and chatting on her phone. Police suspected Sonam after watching this footage. After this, when the police investigated, facts related to the conversation between Raj Kushwaha and Sonam started coming out.
Indore police helped Meghalaya police
When the police investigated Sonam’s mobile dial numbers, the wires of this incident started connecting to Indore. In such a situation, Meghalaya Police appealed to Indore Police for help. Indore Police started working with Meghalaya Police without any delay. Meghalaya Police sent some numbers to Indore Police, Indore Police picked up those youths who had these numbers. Then during interrogation, the whole case was exposed
Sonam’s family demands CBI inquiry
It is worth noting that Raja and Sonam got married on 11 May 2025. Raja and Sonam went to Shillong in Meghalaya on 20 May for their honeymoon. Both reached Mawlakhiyat village on 22 May. Sonam and Raja Raghuvanshi stayed at Shipra Homestay in Nongriat. It is reported that Raja Raghuvanshi was murdered in the afternoon on 23 May after checking out from the homestay. Then on 9 June, Sonam Raghuvanshi was found at a dhaba in Ghazipur in UP , from where she has been taken into custody. The police is investigating the matter. While Raja’s family is demanding death penalty for the culprits in this case, on the other hand, Sonam’s family is calling Sonam innocent and demanding a CBI inquiry into the entire matter.
