Indore Couple Case: Major Breakthrough in Shillong Honeymoon Murder, Wife Sonam Held
Indore Couple Case News
A major breakthrough has come in the murder case (Indore Couple Case) of Indore resident Raja Raghuvanshi, who had gone to Shillong, Meghalaya for his honeymoon. His wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, has been detained from a roadside eatery (dhaba) in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh. She is accused of killing her husband. Interestingly, it was Sonam herself who informed about her location in Ghazipur.

Meghalaya CM Shared the Details
Meghalaya’s Chief Minister posted on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), sharing the complete sequence of events in the Indore couple case and praised the swift action by the Meghalaya Police.

Sonam Called Her Brother
According to the police and the dhaba staff, Sonam tearfully asked the owner for a phone, saying she needed to talk to her family. She then called her brother and told him she was in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, and asked to be picked up. Her brother informed the family, who then alerted the police. Shillong Police had already passed on information to Ghazipur Police, and the dhaba owner also informed the local police. Ghazipur Police then reached the location. Later, Meghalaya Police claimed responsibility for her arrest and will now interrogate Sonam Raghuvanshi.

Police Revelation
According to the Meghalaya Police, Sonam was behind the murder of her husband, Raja. The couple had left their homestay in Nongriat village in the Sohra region of Shillong on May 23. A few hours later, they both went missing. Raja’s body was found on June 2, in a gorge about 20 kilometers from the village.

Police also stated that three more individuals were arrested along with Sonam. One of the accused was caught in Uttar Pradesh and the other two were nabbed by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) from Indore. Sonam had allegedly hired these men to kill her husband.
Sonam’s father’s big reaction
Sonam’s father Devi Singh has targeted the Meghalaya government and Meghalaya police in this entire case. Completely rejecting the allegations against Sonam, Devi Singh has said that why would my daughter do this, the marriage happened with the mutual consent of both the families. The Meghalaya government is lying from the first day itself. The Meghalaya police is lying completely. My daughter had reached a dhaba at Ghazipur at night, she called her brother, then Sonam was taken from there. I have not spoken to my daughter yet. I demand from Union Home Minister Amit Shah to get this entire case investigated by CBI. My daughter is 100 percent innocent.

Raja and Sonam were married on May 11 and had left for their honeymoon in Meghalaya on May 20. Sonam’s family has denied the murder allegations, while Raja’s family is demanding the death penalty for the culprits.
A guide made a big claim
A local guide in Meghalaya had claimed that he had seen Sonam and Raja Raghuvanshi on 23 May. Guide Albert PD had said that he had seen Sonam and Raja with three other male tourists. Albert PD said that he had seen Sonam-Raja climbing from Nongriat to Mawlakhiyat. Both of them had climbed about 3000 stairs, during which three other male tourists were also with them. The guide said that the four men were walking ahead while the woman was walking behind. The four men were talking among themselves in Hindi, I do not understand Hindi so I could not know what they were talking about. I could recognize them because I had asked them to make me their guide earlier, but they refused and made someone else their guide. At present, police investigation is going on
